Preschool Promise - Promise Readers Program
Promise Readers is a reading initiative brought to you by Cincinnati Preschool Promise (CPP) to share the joy of reading with young learners. We are looking for volunteers to create a video of themselves reading a story to spark a child’s interest. Reading plays an integral role in a child's life, and there is no better way to help build a child’s imagination than to read to them. Virtual reading volunteers can help create a positive learning experience.
Here are the details of the Promise Readers program:
1. Volunteers should be 12 years and older. If readers are under the age of 18, the video release form must be signed by a legal guardian giving consent to use your image and participate.
2. Individuals, families, or groups can participate by choosing a book they love which is appropriate for children under five years old. Cincinnati Preschool Promise can also provide an alternative reading list.
3. Your video should include:
• Introduce yourself to the community
• Show the cover of the book and say the name of the story you will be reading
• Be creative and interactive — pause and ask children to repeat a word or phrase while watching you read; pause while reading and ask a question a child a child might ask before answering it.
4. Individuals can either email their video to LaKeisa Ealy, CPP Community Engagement Manager at lealy@cincy-promise.org or schedule an appointment to record in CPP’s office by calling 513-394-3770
All videos will be reviewed prior to being posted. Your video will be sent to our CPP Providers and posted on CPP’s social media sites. As a Promise Reader, you are helping to make reading fun and creating an innovative way to interact with our youngest learners. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email lealy@cincy-promise.org
